Canvas Stretching
Art comes in many forms. Watercolors, lithographs, photographs, sculpture. Many artists choose to express themselves through paint on canvas, or high-quality giclee canvas reproductions. Stretching a canvas means fitting it tightly to a wooden “stretcher” frame. Good stretching keeps the canvas taut, preserving it in ideal condition and preventing warps and ripples. Freshly printed canvas can and often is stretched mechanically via a machine. However, original works of art, especially older works of art, require stretching by hand.
Hand stretching is a highly skilled discipline only acquired from decades of practice. At the Gregory Frame Shop we provide hand-stretching services. Roger Gregory personally has over thirty years of hand stretching experience. If you have an original or valuable piece of canvas art, we have the expertise required to stretch it.
